Ember FlightI once knew a girl
     with hair like wheat
     and eyes like spring
     with an aura of pink
     and a golden core
She’d lock herself
     in a tiny room
     and sometimes sing
     music from the 80’s
     but mostly she liked to draw
What we didn’t understand
     was why she lived
     against a wall
     and didn’t mind the lack
     of air or windows
Often we would
     open the door
     and find yarn balls
     she’d be wearing a wolf’s head
     complete with a bow
We asked
     why this lifestyle
     she chose to embrace
     there was much
     she could do outside
But she replied
     that she was content
